Efective Organic Searching Engine Optimisation

Today's blog post I will talk about how to create an effective SEO for restaurants. I will write specifically about the Maroccan restaurant that I aim to develop my digital marketing project.

It's not new for any reader of this blog what means SEO. So, by my searching, I have listed 5 important points to create an effective organic SEO for restaurants.

Step 1 - Creating a List of Keywords

Keyword research is usually the first step of any legit SEO strategy. I typed a keyword that I think matchable to the restaurant into Google's search field, and it populated a list of suggestion.

These usually make excellent keywords for SEO because they come straight from Google. So, I know people are searching for them. This is a primary searching, and it's recommended typing a few different keywords into Google until I have a list of about ten keywords.

So, I found a handful keyword. It's time to see what's already working for those key worlds. Google has listed all Maroccan Restaurants in my region, including the restaurant that I aim to make the project and its competitors.

I scanned the top 10 results and jotted down any patterns that I noticed. Then I moved to step 2...

Step 2 Create Something Different or Better

Google loves a website that is updated with fresh content on a regular basis. It's important to ensure that the content the restaurant produces is relevant and unique to the audience. By doing so, positive search engine rankings will follow, while also ensuring the restaurant is providing a useful resource for its website visitors. I wrote some ideas to use to produce fresh content on the website.

New Blog Post: As I mentioned in my first post (Blogging 2020), blogs only work if it is frequently updated, so, if the restaurant has someone to updated its blog they could detailing events, new dishes, new staff or even write about curious facts about Maroccan Culture. They need to ensure the content they write on the blog is relevant and useful to the customers and potential customers.

New Reviews: Ask customers to share their review or testimonials regarding the food and services and push these on a regular basis on the website not only is a great way to generate regular content for the website, but it's also fantastic sales tool when trying to attract new customers.

New Photos and Videos: Customers love photos and videos, and so does Google. The restaurant could share photos of the latest dish, publish videos of the chef preparing his favourite three-course meal, share the photos of the environment of the restaurant with happy customers or even share the belly dance pictures they had in a Saturday night. All these things are great ways to improve the website for visitors, while also providing Google with fresh content.

Step 3 Link Building - Backlinks

By following step 2, creating unique contents, the restaurant website is generating an opportunity to get backlinks to these blog posts from other websites. One of the first determinants of search engine rankings is the backlink profile of a website, the more backlinks, generally the higher ranking.

The more relevant and high quality the restaurant's backlink profile is, the higher will be rank in the search engines. A backlink is when an external website links out to the website. If Google and other search engines see that relevant and high-quality sites are linking to the restaurant's website, it will be establishing authority and trust with the search engines.

So, it's essential to build a good relation with bloggers, influencers and food evaluators to increase the awareness of the brand on an established website as they can generate a lot of backlinks targeted to the right audience.

Step 4 Use Descriptive SEO Title

The titles of the web pages are the most important section. They are the section of the website that Google uses to display as its title in the search results. Restaurants must ensure the titles are short and descriptive. It's important to include the location within them (Dublin / London / Paris or City Centre / Neighbourhood), include the type of the restaurant (fine dining, family etc) and include the type of food it offers (Mexican/ Italian / Morrocan).

Most important of all, ensure the titles are relevant to the content you are publishing, and try to think of what the customers would search for within Google if they were looking for a similar restaurant.

Step 5 Define the SEO Meta Descriptions

Meta descriptions are the small sentence or two of text that is displayed under the title in a Google search result. These are second in importance to the title described above, but still very important. Just like the title, they must be relevant to the content published.

It's essential to imagine what the customer may search for if they were trying to find a restaurants website, and then include this phrase, if relevant to the content, in your meta description. We can never forget that the ultimate goal is to make it interesting for your website visitors.
